What are the problems with plastic windows?

Modern plastic windows bring comfort and coziness to the house due to the fact that they have a lot of different advantages. But in the absence of proper care for them, many have problems with them. What are these difficulties and how can they be solved or prevented?

Fogging of windows

As a rule, fogging of windows is not a problem of windows as such, but rather difficulties in the operation of the exhaust system, and they can be solved quite simply – by ensuring timely ventilation of the room (ventilation, installation of ventilation valves on the windows).

Creak fittings

When carrying out construction work, including when installing windows, construction debris, for example, plaster, often gets on the fittings. It is for this reason that when you turn the handle on the window, the fittings may begin to creak and jam.

To prevent the occurrence of this problem, it is necessary to glue the opening between the sash and the frame with any wide adhesive tape, for example, painter’s tape, during any construction work.

PVC windows have a special rubber seal, which after a while begins to lose its elasticity. All this in one way or another leads to poor pressing of the sash to the window frame and as a result, in the cold season there is a fairly strong blowing through the formed cracks.

To solve this problem, it is necessary to replace the seal with a new one, and in order to prevent its appearance in the future, it is necessary to regularly (at least 1 time per year) carefully lubricate the seal with a special silicone lubricant.

All shut-off elements must necessarily undergo a special inspection every year. And all moving parts of the fittings should be lubricated with a very thick lubricant, for example, lithol. For lubrication, it is not recommended to use machine oil, because it is quite liquid and drains very quickly.
