How is installation (installation) of metal-plastic windows?

Installation of plastic products is an integral part of the purchase and is as important a link in the process as manufacturing. A quality window remains so only after its proper installation.

Questions that arise during the installation of windows:

  • building physics: climatic loads on the window, thermal and humidity conditions;
  • distribution and perception of wind loads on the structure;
  • aesthetics of the mounted product in the exterior and interior;
  • window mounting diagram.

Some rules for installing metal-plastic windows:

  1. Installation should be carried out by specialized installation teams who have a license to carry out installation work.
  2. At the request of the customer, a standard instruction for the installation of products made of PVC profiles must be provided.
  3. When installing a window, the following conditions must be taken into account: the sealing of the mounting gaps between the window and the wall must be dense, uniform, withstand climatic loads outside and inside the room; the operational properties of the junction units must correspond to the highest values of the norms that are established in the current standards (SNiP);sealing the seams from the inside must be denser than the outside; the scheme of the adjacency nodes must ensure the timely drainage of rainwater and  condensation outwards. It is forbidden to penetrate moisture into the wall; adjacency units should not contribute to the formation of cold bridges, and to fogging of windows on internal surfaces; when calculating installation gaps, it is necessary to take into account the thermal expansions of the structure.
  4. It is forbidden to use sealants, glue and foam to fasten the window.
  5. The distance between the fasteners when installing a white metal-plastic window should not be more than 70 cm, in the color profile not more than 60 cm.
  6. To fill the seams between the wall and the frame, polyurethane foam cords, foam insulation and other materials are used that can ensure the performance characteristics of the seam.
  7. To transfer loads from the structure to the wall, pads made of different polymeric materials or wooden are used.
  8. It is not recommended to paint over the seams.
  9. When docking a window with balcony doors, the seam between them should be smooth and exclude blowing. When docking, a special profile is used.
  10. These recommendations do not apply to the installation of stained glass windows, bay windows and elements of continuous glazing of openings.
